It's been a tough season for swimmers with the COVID-19 pandemic. Durham's outdoor and indoor pools will remain closed for the summer.

But Wake Forest opened its Holding Park Aquatic Center on Wednesday, July 1. And Raleigh is opening most of its pools on July 6. Knightdale's pool opened a couple of weeks ago. And, on Thursday, Chapel Hill announced that it would open A.D. Clark Pool on July 6 with limited capacity; reservations will be required.

At all pools, officials are enforcing new rules that will limit capacity, encourage social distancing and help keep swimmers and staff safe.

In Raleigh, for example, face masks are required when not in the water and social distancing is not possible. Wellness checks, which include a few questions and a temperature check with a touchless thermometer, will be required prior to admission, according to the city.

"If anyone in your household does not clear the screening, no one in the group will be allowed to enter," according to the city.

For the status about these and other pools across the Triangle, check our seasonal pool database.
