Apps can take cell phone pics to new level

RALEIGH, N.C. — Many cell phone owners enjoy using Snapchat filters to add a little something extra to their pictures and videos, but there are other apps that can transform those images as well.

My Talking Pet in Action: It turns your pet into one that can talk. Users can take a picture, tweak it into the shape of your pet's head, and record the message! The video can then be shared. The app is $2.99 and it is available for iOS and Android users.

VHS Camcorder: It provides a throwback look just like a camcorder from the 1980s would generate. The app shoots in color or black and white and users can go widescreen or snap pictures the old-fashioned standard format. Users can also add an old-school timestamp.  VHS Camcorder is $3.99 for Apple users and $2.99 for Android users.

Glitche app: It provides 30 tools for intentional digital glitches, 3-D transformations, color formations and a washed-out VHS look. It costs .99 cents in the iOS Apple store.
