Apex touch-a-truck event postponed because of stormy forecast

Posted April 22

The South Atlantic Fire Rescue Expo's fire truck parade rolled down Fayetteville Street on Saturday.

The threat of severe storms is pushing Apex's touch-a-truck event, which I included in our weekly Weekend Plans post this week, to next month.

After a rainy Saturday afternoon and evening, WRAL Weather is forecasting a cool Sunday with a high of 56 and some rain and possible thunder.

In an email, Apex officials wrote: "Due to forecasts of sustained severe weather this Sunday, April 23, the Town of Apex Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Resources Department has rescheduled our annual Touch-A-Truck event for Sunday, May 21st, 2017. We apologize for the inconvenience and should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 919-249-3402."

The event was planned for Sunday. It's now scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., May 21. From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., that day, the event will be horn free.
