APEX, N.C. — Apex town leaders plan to spend $219,000 to improve parking downtown.

When police officers moved to temporary trailers behind Salem Street shops, business owners complained. They said those trailers were taking up valuable parking spaces that their customers needed.

The trailers are temporary while a new police station is being built

In response to the complaints, town leaders decided Tuesday evening to add 144 additional spaces in the downtown area. The town will also install bike racks.
