— Four people – a father and three children – were home Tuesday afternoon when their house in the 100 block of Kellernis Drive in Apex caught fire.

Everyone escaped without injury, according to Fire Chief Mark Haraway, but the house was a total loss.

Haraway said the fire appeared to have started on the back deck and burned up the back of the house and across the roof of the two-story structure.

Red Barn Rd is still closed off. You can't use it to travel to/from Zeno Rd to Fairfax Woods Dr. As of 4:50 pm.
