CARY, N.C. — After a lackluster reception to a similar event earlier this summer, another slip-and-slide event is hoping to claim better reviews this weekend.
Slide Fest will take over WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The event features 1,000 feet of slip-sliding, food trucks and music.

Sliders must be at least 44 inches tall and are required to have inflatable tubes.

Early bird registration is available online through Saturday. Registering early saves you about $10.

In advance, single slide passes are $10 and five-time slider passes are $20. All day unlimited slider passes are $35. Only available in advance, there are four-pack pass deals for single, five-time and unlimited slides.

Slide Fest is also planning events in Wilmington and Fayetteville. Those dates have not been announced.

If the concept sounds familiar, Slide the City Raleigh took over Glenwood South in Raleigh in May. Thousands attended the sold out event, but many complained that they weren't able to slide multiple times, despite paying for the chance to do so. Large crowds and the logistics, including a not angled enough sliding surface, left many unhappy.

Slide the City had planned to return to Raleigh in July but opted to cancel the date.
