Announcing the 2012 Go Ask Mom Made by Mom Gift Guide!

Published: 2012-11-13 20:55:00
Updated: 2012-11-13 20:55:00

I'm thrilled to announce our third annual Go Ask Mom Made by Mom Gift Guide today!

The guide features a dozen local moms and the products that they've created. You'll find everything from handmade jewelry to giant cookies to books, music and more.

Over the next five weeks, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, you'll hear more from these moms. Some you may recognize from my regular features of local moms on Mondays. Others will be introduced here for the first time. We'll wrap it all up in December with a big giveaway where the lucky winner will win something from each of these creative moms!

In the meantime, I hope you'll take a look at their websites and consider supporting some local moms as you shop for gifts for your friends and family. Be sure to check out our 2010 guide and 2011 guide too.

Here's the 2012 Go Ask Mom Gift Guide!

1. Michelle Stees of Monster Cookies & Cakes, a baker who specializes in giant, delicious cookies and cakes.

2. Connie Bossert, CEO of Fairlady Media, which she founded with her husband. The company creates educational games for kids for the iPhone and iPad. It just came out with a new game called Grandpa's Workshop for ages 2-6.

3. Michelle Miller of Sonshine Wear, which creates T-shirts with subtle Christian slogans on them.

4. Kelly Starling Lyons, a children's book author, whose books include "Ellen's Broom" and the newly published "Tea Cakes for Tosh."

5. Julianne Walther of Patchwork Memories, which offers all kinds of beautiful quilted products and keepsakes.

6. Kelli Clough of My Lullabug, which offers adorable onesies and T-shirts for babies and kids, along with monthly bodysuit growth stickers, perfect for keeping track of a little one's growth.

7. Rissi Palmer, a country music artist who hit the country charts a few years ago and has played at the Grand Ole Opry, will come out with her debut children's music CD next month called "Best Day Ever." It's a sweet, sentimental and sophisticated ode to parenting and kids.

8. Laura Browning of Posy Market, which offers her expertly crafted hand-sewn items like pillow covers, napkin sets and pennant banners, along with vintage pieces that she finds in thrift shops, flea markets and antique festivals.

9. Laura Kelly of Laura Kelly Designs, who creates personalized stationary and much more.

10. Laura Hertzfeld Katz, author of "The Princess Who Wore Glasses," a book about a princess getting her first pair of glasses.

11. Kim Hunter of Sarah Cecilia Good Food Co., which provides freshly prepared foods using local, sustainably-grown ingredients and will open its first cafe in Raleigh next year.

12. Andie Freeman of This Little Pigment, an artist who creates beautiful art pendants, art necklaces and rings.

Stay tuned for much more about these talented moms. We'll have our first feature on Friday!

Nice list! My favorite local Mom-made bath & body products come from Tracey Gurley (traceygurleybathandbody(dot)com) out of Raleigh. She even incorporates local beer (from Fullsteam & White Street Brewing Co.) in some of her soaps (so Dads don't feel left out).

Thanks! She actually was on our 2010 list, which is linked above!

Sarah

Thank you so much!! :)
