Andrew Liveris speaks out on DowDuPont merger
Dow Chemical finalized its merger with DuPont Thursday, Aug. 31 and now DowDuPont Executive Chairman Andrew Liveris is discussing the impact the move will have on Mid-Michigan.
Posted — UpdatedTV5's Alana Holland spoke with Liveris on Sept. 1 about the companies joining forces and plans to divide DowDuPont into three separate, independent companies.
Liveris said that Mid-Michigan will house the Material Sciences business, and Midland will continue to serve as headquarters and the center for Research and Design.
The spin-off of those three companies is expected to occur within 18 months.
He also said that no initial job cuts are being made, other than the ones that happened when Dow Corning went back under the umbrella of Dow Chemical.
Liveris also discussed the impact of Hurricane Harvey on facilities in Texas.
DuPont, based in Wilmington, Delaware and founded in 1802, employed about 46,000 workers prior to the merger, according to its annual report. Dow Chemical, based in Midlands, Michigan employs about 56,000 people.
The company has dual headquarters in Michigan and Delaware.
The companies announced their plans to merge in December 2015.
