Gold miners rose with the prices of precious metals.

Chesapeake Energy Corp., up 9 cents to $4.87

Energy companies advanced with the price of oil.

Acacia Communications Inc., down $2.62 to $39

The optical products company said manufacturing problems hurt its results in the second quarter.

Harmonic Inc., down 48 cents to $4.68

Investors were disappointed with the video services company's second-quarter estimates.
