Posted July 27, 2010

— American Airlines will drop its service between Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Boston, officials said Tuesday.

I was a big AA fan, and this is very disappointing. I know other small carriers fly to Boston, but AA plays a vital role in connecting AA flights to Europe and Beyond. I know a lot of business passengers are on these flights, and they are always packed! I find it odd that they went from having 5-6 non-stops a day, to none. I think AA should show some loyalty to it's passengers who have relied on these flights for years. Shame on you AA!

if one buys a ticket to fly out of RDU to go anywhere you will pay 60% more than any other airport WHY? Cause they can get away with it, so much for consumer protection and regulation

i fly alot and have so for many years and I have always found american to be a higher priced airline on most of my routes. but from what i hear their load capacities are pretty high in and out of rdu so i guess they figure they can get it at least not to boston.

Why go to Boston? Its a wasteland.

Southwest has 6 flights each day going north and 10 coming south. Only 1 each way are without a plane change.

Point is-there are ways to get to Boston. AA has gotten a reputation of being expensive.

lazerdoc, you are right on the money! Southwest offers numerous flights to Boston daily - no they are not nonstop BUT the fares are cheaper, there is no charge to check up to two bags, and their flight crews are wonderful. (No, I'm not a Southwest employee, just a very happy customer!!)

I recently took a Jetblue flight to and from Boston. It was a pleasure. You're correct, lazerdoc.

If American's prices were about 200% lower they would be able to compete with the others....
