Ambulance, Krispy Kreme truck collide

Posted November 30, 2009

— An ambulance collided with a Krispy Kreme doughnuts truck Monday morning south of  Smithfield.

Four Oaks police responded to the wreck near the junction on U.S. Highways 301 and 701 just before 11 a.m.

Police said the ambulance was not carrying patients at the time of the crash.

The ambulance hit the back of the doughnut truck, causing it to flip. Both the driver and a passenger in the ambulance were taken to Johnston Medical Center where they were being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police were still investigating the wreck and did not release the identities of those involved.

Because it IS in the city limits, and it's their jurisdiction.

Why did Four Oaks cops even respond to this? It was out of the city limits. Guess they couldn't get enough donuts from the girls at Hess.
