Child hospitalized after incident at apartment pool

Posted August 9, 2013

— A 9-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday night after a scare at his community pool. Paramedics were called to Spring Forest Apartment Homes, on Sedgewick Drive off Spring Forest Road, just before 5 p.m.

They found the boy had been pulled from the pool and treated him on the deck for about 25 minutes before taking him to WakeMed.

Tony Maxwell said he was at the pool minutes before the incident with his daughter and saw the boy jumping into the pool.

"I was telling my daughter, who is 10, 'I remember when you were doing that at 3 feet.' We chuckled and laughed," Maxwell said. "He was jumping and spinning just like all the other kids."

Maxwell left the pool area shortly before the incident, but he heard about it from a neighbor.

"I was talking to another gentleman who was there after this happened, he was like, 'Yeah, that was the little boy that went over to 8 feet.' And that's when it happened," Maxwell said.

Isn't the same story in which the child dies? Why is this part still up? SAD about the outcome.

That doesnt sound good. Worked on the child for 25 minutes? Plus you have to worry about "dry drowning" after the fact! Read about that earlier thisyear...scary. Even if a person seems ok, if they had an accident that involved nearly drowning and they ingested alot of water, they could STILL drown even after leaving the water. Their lungs are damaged and continue to fill with fluid.

I hope we hear a good outcome for this story.
Folks,,,watch your kids! Dont count on the lifeguard to do it alone....they have so many to watch.

I pray the child is ok.
