An Amber Alert issued Thursday for a 4-year-old Randolph County girl has been canceled.

Authorities canceled the alert for Cayley Rose Owens about an hour after posting it. They did not immediately provide information on where the child was found.

When the alert was issued shortly before 4 p.m., authorities said they believed Cayley was taken by Calem Scott Owens, 20, and may have been traveling from Denton in a white 1993 GMC pickup truck.

Authorities did not say how Calem Owens may be related to the girl.

Amber Alerts are ineffective, most of them are custody disputes. Yawn. Give me a break.

pulstar40 - although one is too many, of course, "so many children being abducted by a parent and then murdered" - really?

There may be a restraining order against him or no contact custody order, which would be a reason to alert the public.

I thought the story said "authorities did not say how Caleb Owens may be related to the girl"

If they have reason to believe the child is in danger, then an alert is issued. With so many children being abducted by a parent and then murdered, I'd rather the alert be issued.
