Warrants issued for Amber Alert suspect

State authorities issued an Amber Alert Saturday afternoon for a 10-month-old girl they believe was abducted by her 26-year-old father.

DURHAM, N.C. — State authorities issued an Amber Alert Saturday afternoon for a 10-month-old girl they believe was abducted by her 26-year-old father. 

Tamiyah Elssy Bryant, is multi-racial and weighs about 24 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a pink shirt and a diaper. 

Durham police believe the child was abducted around 8:15 a.m. by Rodney Bryant. He is described as a light-skinned black male, stands 6 feet tall and weighs about 220 pounds. Bryant was last seen wearing green camouflaged pants, black shirt and a bright orange coat.

The Amber Alert states that Bryant has tattoos of praying hands on the right side of his neck, "MOB" on the left side of his neck, "macktown" on his knuckles and other miscellaneous tattoos on his forearms.

Police said Bryant was last seen on I-40 near the Highway 55 exit traveling west, possibly heading to Atlanta. He was driving a white 2002 Suzuki XL7 with a WA license plate ACK-7454. 

Garner police issued arrest warrants on Bryant Saturday night, charging him with first degree kidnapping, assault on a female, and communicating threats from an incident Saturday morning. 

According to police, Bryant was taking the child's mother, Elssy Olivares, to work at an IHOP. When she attempted to get out of the car, he forcefully held her down and eventually made her get out on the side of I-40 in Durham. 

According to police, Bryant made threats to kill himself and the child.
