Amazing Race recap: Be Safe and Don't Hit a Cow
The Amazing Race madness was in full swing last night with speed traps, crocodiles and stubborn donkeys.
Posted — UpdatedThe teams traveled through Botswana and experienced the beauty and wildlife of Africa first-hand. Bates and Anthony started and ended this leg in first place after cruising through the Fast Forward challenge. The brothers had to water ski through a river where crocodiles are known to frequent for a mile without falling down. Bates was a little wobbly at first but they sailed though the challenge and won $7,500 each for placing first. That makes three first place finishes out of seven legs on this race!
Other teams didn't have such an easy time. Two groups, the Newlyweds and the Country Singers, were pulled over for speeding and had to pay their tickets right away. That held them up, but both teams were able to finish the Road Blocks quickly enough.
Team Youtube got really lost but managed to find their way in the end.
Many teams had a frustratingly difficult time with the canoe Road Block challenge, where they had to transport two goats up the river in a traditional canoe, steered and propelled with a long stick. It looked very difficult, but some teammates were not being very supportive (the Roller Derby Moms had a bit of a fight on their boat).
In the next challenge, the teams got to choose Brains or Brawn – riding a horse through a safari trail and memorizing the order of 10 animal cutouts or transporting firewood with stubborn donkeys – and best friends Pam & Winnie had trouble with both challenges. They couldn't get their donkeys to move, even with a delicious carrot on a stick, and then couldn't correctly identify the 10 animals in order. They were eliminated from the race, and I was surprised to see them place last!
