DURHAM, N.C. — Durham's American Tobacco Campus is brimming with things to do – from minor league baseball with the Durham Bulls to hot restaurants and touring Broadway shows at the Durham Performing Arts Center.

Guests can now also stay the night, in the new Aloft Durham Downtown hotel. The hotel has a Blackwell Street address and sits between the DPAC and DBAP. It features 134 loft-like guest rooms, a parking deck, meeting rooms, a pool and the W XYZ bar.

“We are thrilled to debut Starwood’s popular Aloft brand on the American Tobacco Campus, where travelers will enjoy easy access to the area’s restaurants and sports and cultural venues,” said Michael Goodmon, vice president of real estate for Capitol Broadcasting Company, which owns American Tobacco (and WRAL.com). “The opening of Aloft Durham Downtown also marks an important step forward in the ongoing redevelopment of Durham’s historic downtown.”

An invitation-only grand opening celebration was planned for Tuesday.
