GOLDSBORO, N.C. — An accused Marine deserter is being held at the Wayne County Detention Center, Goldsboro Sheriff Carey A. Winders said Monday.

The Marine, Jhad Antonio Howell, 22, was being investigated by county authorities on charges of breaking and entering and larceny. In the process of handling paperwork related to that arrest, deputies discovered Howell was wanted by the Marine Corps as well.

Howell, of 816 Sandhill Drive in Dudley, was being held without bond until the Marines could arrange to pick him up, according to a release issued by Winders's office Monday.
