The World Beer Festival is only a few weeks away, but we got a glimpse of one of the special brews being created specifically for the April 5 event.
Beer Fest, a Belgian Pale Ale, will be available at the Crank Arm and All About Beer booths at the festival.
The beer's name is a nod to the fact that the festival's name has been shortened over time by festival goers to just "Beer Fest," All About Beer President Daniel Bradford said.
"(The beer is) a great way to talk about what goes into beer, the flavors," Bradford said, noting the brew will contain a Pilsnar and Malt Vinegar that will give it a toasty tone.
Crank Arm brewer Mike Morris said the beer will feature the only known indigenous hops Azacca, which contains fresh citrus, tropical notes and a touch of pine.
The beer should be ready just over two weeks, just in time for the festival. For a "hoppy" beer, the release will be timed perfectly, Morris said.
Tickets for the World Beer Festival are on sale now. General admission tickets are $45 and VIP tickets are $90. Among the perks of being a VIP - the "Traveling Beer Dinner" (a festival first!) that gets you access to a variety of stations where local chefs will prepare dishes expertly paired with the beer.
