It's been a couple of weeks since all of those 15,400 tickets sold out for Raleigh's Holiday Express at Pullen Park. But, as I wrote after that, there are PLENTY of other holiday events that involve Santa and trains and lights and more.
If you're marking your calendars for some of these other events, I have a couple of updates on when tickets will go on sale.
The Museum of Life and Science's Santa Train, which will mark its 40th anniversary this year, will be held Dec. 1 to Dec. 3, Dec. 7 to Dec. 10, Dec. 13 to Dec. 17 and Dec. 20 to Dec. 22.
Tickets will go on sale starting Oct. 31 to some members. By Nov. 7, they will open up to the general public. Ticket prices range between $15 and $22, depending on when you ride the train ($15 for the first weekend, $20 for the second weekend and $22 for the final two weekends). Tickets go fast for the prime train departure times for this event.
Also, NC By Train will hold its Santa Train this year on Dec. 2. This is another event that will sell out very quickly. You can ride an Amtrak train between Raleigh and Greensboro or Charlotte and High Point - or hop on at stops in between those two routes, including Cary and Durham for the Raleigh to Greensboro trip.
Katie Trout with NC By Train tells me that tickets typically go on sale the last week of October. If you follow this link to NC By Train's website, you'll see more information about this Santa Train. Just note: This is the press release from 2016, so the information is a year old and dates and possibly times have changed.
