As to learning how to make fruit roll ups in the dehydrator, just go to youtube and type in fruit roll up dehydrator and you'll have a bunch of videos you can watch - so EASY :)

What do you do with dehydrated strawberries? Easy! Throw them in cereal, toss them in water or soft drinks or any drinks that you think they would taste good in. Then you can always toss them in water and let them hydrate again, drain off the water, add a touch of sugar and stir them up to make their own syrup and use them for strawberry shortcake or poured over a slice of chocolate cake OR make your on Sonic Strawberry limeade by dropping a scoop of the stirred strawberries in their own syrup into a cup, add a wedge of lime (in my case, a dehydrated slice of lime) - toss in ice and fill with Sprite or diet Sprite and you have an official Sonic Strawberry Limeade (yes, I used to be a carhop, that's the formula!). And then of course, you can eat them as is, they're crunchy and wonderful as a dried snack!

That is sooooo cool PR!!! You are really tempting me to try dehydrating strawberries....i guess my thing is what do i use them for??? I am not a soda drinker at all....can i infuse my water with dehydrated strawberries?? i guess the fruit roll up thing would be great for Rae and hubby.......maybe i just need to email you on how to do this fruit roll up thing or watch a video a visual learner lol

Oh my goodness! Hit Aldi's this morning, the place was a zoo! But I did buy 10 lbs of strawberries :) And the dehydrators are full, sliced and fruit roll ups too - oh YUMMY!! The house smells awesome as they dry too - like I'm standing in a strawberry dream LOL I will be doing strawberries until the end of the month. I want enough to last until next spring :)
Rae and you are more than welcome to taste test LOL - except they don't last, hubby is eating them like candy - which is WONDERFUL since he doesn't pick up a piece of fruit! At least now he is eating fruit - no additives, with the exception of 1 tablespoon of honey to two huge fruit roll up trays - not enough to even talk about :)

Has anyone bought the filets from Aldis before? I normally buy them from Harris Teeter, but for this price I thought of chancing it

  • raesmom1612 May 7, 2014

PR~Rae and I will be taste testers for those fruit roll ups :)

Im headed that way after work today. Glad the fruits are on sale this week.......all we have at home is one cantaloupe!!!

Am going to have to hit Aldi's this morning for those strawberries, if they're good, fruit roll ups on the way :) And if they're really good, I'll buy all my strawberries today from there instead of Harris Teeter.
Since Aldi's is short sale merchandise, nearing their prime or lessor quality than what other stores are willing to pay for, you have to be careful to look closely at produce. I used to do the mystery shops for Aldi's and that was one of the critical points in the process, was to look for damage and mold on produce. BUT, having said all that, if you find good produce there you cannot beat the price :)
