A Seymour Johnson Air Force Base airman was charged Wednesday in the death of his young son, whose body was found Tuesday along a road in Columbus County.

Senior Airman Matthew Theurer was charged with murder, voluntary manslaughter and negligent homicide, according to a spokeswoman with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. He was held in the Sampson County jail before he was transferred by Air Force personnel.

The spokeswoman said Theurer was in pretrial confinement. She declined to comment further on the case.

Base officials said the boy was also named Matthew.

This person should absolutely get life in prison and no parole. He had no right to take this child's life. PERIOD!!!

littleriver69 - "Death penalty. End of story."

I'd agree, but we don't even know what happened, so I won't rush to judgment until we do.

What happened???

I pray the boy didn't suffer.

Take God out of society and the evil one will have his way. Rest in peace with your Heavenly Father little one.

Death penalty. End of story.
