Air Tankers assist firefighting in West Central Texas

Sweetwater, Texas — Fire crews began working Friday evening to contain a fire that has burned at least 300 acres in Nolan County, Texas southeast of the town of Sweetwater.
Local fire crews along with the Texas A&M Forest Service are working to get a handle on the blaze that is currently threatening at least 7 structures.
A spokesperson for the Texas A&M Forestry Service has said that there are no evacuations as far as he knows at this time and that 2 single engine air tankers are being brought from Abilene to assist in getting the Bitter Creek Fire under control.
At around 9:00 PM the Texas A&M Forestry Service had said that the fire size was estimated to be 300 acres and only 5% contained.
