— The first day of an afternoon drawing saw sales soar for the North Carolina Education Lottery. Sales for the "Carolina Pick 3" were up 30 percent over last Monday, when just one drawing was held.

Lottery executive director Tom Shaheen said Tuesday that lotteries in other states generally have seen a 5 percent to 9 percent increase following the introduction of a midday drawing.

The midday drawing is available live on WRAL.com at 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The evening drawing happens nightly at 11:22 p.m.

Why do they have to keep coming up with new schemes to increase sales? Is the lottery not doing good in NC?

At least with this lottery, I've got a choice of how much money I take out of my own pocket to give the government. With taxes, I ain't got no choice. In fact, I think I feel someone's hand in my pocket right now. No, it's just Alanis singing....

Just what this state needs - even more government-sponsored gambling. So now, if you can't get enough of spending your hard-earned money every evening, well then - now you can spend twice as much for two drawings per day. What a bargain.

Can this state ever get enough money? With taxes on the rise, and spending out of control by the Dems in control, now they want people to gamble more in the state-sponsored lottery.

you have to pick the drawing. it's not a second chance thing.

State is feeding our gambling fever for those who can't go a whole workday without winning them some money

Does this mean your Pick 3 is good for both drawings?
