After dreary Saturday, get ready for big warmup on Mother's Day

"Tomorrow's weather looks fabulous for Mother's Day," WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said. "We're not looking at rain for the next several days."

"And the heat will be on in the coming days to come."

"We'll be much warmer on Sunday, and we could see breezy wind gusts up to 25 mph during the afternoon," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said.

Sunday will see bright sun and temperatures reaching 80 degrees by noon. Highs will climb into the mid-80s by the afternoon.

And that is just the beginning of a warm stretch that will feel almost like summer. The weather stays dry and temperatures climb into the 90s by the end of the work week.

"It won't be super hot Monday, low 80s, but heading into Tuesday and Wednesday, that's when things will really start to heat up."

"There's the potential for us to break some records with heat this coming week," Wilmoth said.

Wilmoth said temperatures will stay high, and it will not cool down until the following week.
