CLAYTON, N.C. — Johnston County emergency crews responded to a hydrochloric acid leak at Novo Nordisk Tuesday morning.

No one was injured and no evacuations were ordered.

Workers were moving a container with about 300 gallons of hydrochloric acid with a forklift when the container dropped and started leaking at the plant, at 3612 Powhatan Road in Clayton, authorities said.

Company spokesman Ken Inchausti said the solution, which is used in their waste management process, has been contained.

No other information was released.
