— Two of three lanes were closed on I-40 West Saturday due to an accident involving a tractor trailer and two other vehicles.

The accident happened about 4:45 p.m. near mile marker 277 in Durham County.

A Jeep Wrangler was attempting to switch lanes when it struck a flat-bed tractor trailer, authorities said. The jeep then spun out and struck a van.

The passengers in the two vehicles both complained of some pains, but they were treated on the scene. No one was transported to the hospital, officials said.

No charges were filed as of 9 p.m. Saturday.

It's purely a case of "I'VE GOT TO, JUST GOT TO, BE FIRST!!!! And I'm more important than anybody else.

Trust me the DOT has nothing to do with this. I have been here in NC fir 6 years now and I have lived all over the US for the past 41 years and I have never seen so many accidents in my life as I see here in NC......May be this is the DOT fault...Quit handing out drivers licences like they were coupons to a free rock concert.
    LEARN HOW TO DRIVE!

What does the DOT have to do with a jeep making an unsafe lane change, for any reason, and then striking a big rig, and hitting another car? geesh, get off the DOT is the devil kick and hold the driver accountable.

I guess someone didn't like it when I pointed out the idiocy of DOT concerning having to go through all this re-paving again!! I mentioned the huge expense of time and money for motorists having to sit through it again. You can't hide it--DOT makes blunder after blunder with seemingly no accountability!! How do they keep their jobs?!?!?

He also told me that had been alternate routes to miss the construction. I forget he's pretty reliable and smart. He's my only child and I worry...

Triangle mommy- Thank you. My son told me the same thing when his wife and he got home. You know how we worry about those kids, even if they are grow, and they wouldn't answer the cell

Uhh Ladyblue - the accident was on 40 west - someone traveling from Greensboro would have been traveling on 40 East.

And this accident folks - is WHY you are told to stay AWAY from the construction zone while the lanes are closed.
