Beatrice Diaz knows a lot about motherhood. The Chapel Hill mom has four of her own children - ages 2 to 10. And each pregnancy was different. She's been on bed rest. One child was delivered prematurely.
"I became heavily involved in maternal and child health issues due to my own pregnancies and childbirth experiences," Diaz tells me. "I knew I wanted to do something to help women and families. I am personally invested in promoting healthy women which, in turn, helps promote healthy families."
Diaz has turned that passion into a job, launching a maternity concierge and event planning business called Absolute Joy. Diaz started by helping friends, family and groups. She loves event planning, organizing and administrating, skills developed during her last job as a manager and assistant to an attorney.
But her growing family required that she find a flexible job, which Absolute Joy allows. Absolute Joy helps soon-to-be moms enjoy pregnancy
"I see my business as a way to help take out some of the work and research that comes from preparing for or caring for a baby," she said.
As a maternity concierge, Diaz can help expecting parents do everything from work on a baby registry to plan the nursery and connect with health care professionals. She's happy to run errands, shop or head to the grocery store so her customers can focus on being pregnant.
"Much like a wedding planner, I help guide expectant moms through the process of preparing for the arrival of their babies," she said. "I strongly believe that life can be joyful and I sincerely want to bring joy to people by offering event planning and concierge services."
Diaz also can help plan events from romantic date nights for two to birthday parties, family reunions and conferences for 200.
"Life is full of beautiful moments and I genuinely want to help people celebrate those moments," she tells me.
