ABERDEEN, N.C. — A boil-water advisory has been issued for residents in Aberdeen after a contractor accidentally drilled through the town’s water main, officials said Wednesday.

Officials said they hoped to restore water pressure by 2 p.m.

An estimated 500 to 1,000 residents and businesses were without water after Broad Plex, a fiber optic cable contractor for Moore County schools, hit the main about 10 a.m.

Anyone with low water pressure or cloudy water is advised to boil water for at least a minute before drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or bathing.
