Aberdeen man dies from injuries sustained in Saturday crash

A man involved in a single-vehicle accident Saturday evening in Pinebluff has died from his injuries, according to the Aberdeen Times.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A man involved in a single-vehicle accident Saturday evening in Pinebluff has died from his injuries, according to the Aberdeen Times.

Sylvester Locklear, 56, of Aberdeen, died Sunday morning at UNC Hospital, according to officials.

Sylvester Locklear and Terry Locklear, 38, of Aberdeen, were trapped inside their vehicle after it overturned near Pinebluff around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday around the area of Addor Road.

Authorities said Sylvester Locklear’s Mitsubishi Montero Sport lost control after maneuvering a curve, which then became airborne and struck several trees before coming to a stop on its side in the middle of Addor Road.

Both men were initially transported to FIrstHealth Moore Regional Hospital after the accident. Sylvester Locklear was later moved to UNC Hospital.

Police charged Sylvester Locklear with driving while impaired, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.

Terry Locklear remains at FirstHealth Regional Hospital in stable condition.

The Pinebluff Fire Department, Aberdeen Fire and Rescue, Southern Pines Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS and NC State Highway Patrol all responded to the accident.

Authorities said the cause of the accident is under investigation. No additional information has been released.
