A ‘big bang theory’ spinoff tv show is coming
Posted May 19
If you’ve ever wondered how Sheldon Cooper’s character in “The Big Bang Theory” came to be, you’re about to get your answer. CBS is creating a spinoff show entirely devoted to the backstory of Sheldon’s grown-up character, and it’s aptly called “Young Sheldon.”
They’ve released the first trailer for the show, and no matter how you felt about “The Big Bang Theory,” this five-minute trailer is definitely worth a watch. Because seriously. It just doesn’t get cuter than this.
The preview shows a 9-year-old Sheldon, also known as Shelly, getting ready for his first day of 9th grade. Yup, you read that right. He’s always been incredibly intelligent.
You’ll see in the trailer that his outspokenness came at an early age, and he’s also always been very good at outsmarting those around him, just as you’d imagine. But seeing Sheldon as a little boy in “Young Sheldon” will certainly make his all-grown-up character in “The Big Bang Theory” even more lovable.
Young Sheldon is played by Iain Armitage, and the actor does a great job of portraying Sheldon’s quick wit. If you like what you see in this five-minute snippet, then you’re going to want to tune in when the show airs starting September 25. It’ll move to Thursday slot on November 2, according to TODAY.
The newly-married Jim Parsons, who plays the adult version of Sheldon, couldn’t be more excited for the backstory. “It made me realize I'm even more fond of this character than I thought I was," he told Inside Edition.
So, if someone this familiar with the character (he has played him for 11 seasons, after all) could fall even more in love with him after seeing this show, you surely will, too.
As it’s 11 seasons reveals, “Big Bang Theory” has a devoted audience, so it’s no surprise that the early fan reaction to the show seems positive:

You have Chuck Lorre and Steve Molaro, the writer and producer duo responsible for “The Big Bang Theory” to thank for your new favorite TV show. Get ready to settle in for a full night of TV-viewing when the new series and the eleventh season of “The Big Bang Theory” kick off on September 25.
There’s a whole lot of Sheldon to see, and you won’t want to miss a minute of it!
