2016 WRAL Raleigh Christmas Parade presented by Shop Local Raleigh
Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, marked the 72nd anniversary of the WRAL-TV Raleigh Christmas Parade, presented by Shop Local Raleigh.
Tens of thousands of people lined the streets for the spectacular show, while thousands more watched from home.
The event annually ranks as one of the largest parades on the East Coast.
The parade featured 115 entries, including marching bands, festive floats, giant balloons, animals, entertainers, specialty vehicles, plus special holiday surprises.
This was the 43rd consecutive year that the event was broadcast live by WRAL-TV.

The parade will be replayed on television on Christmas Eve at noon on WRAL2 and on Christmas Day at noon. on WRAL-TV.
The parade also marks the kickoff of WRAL's annual Coats for the Children campaign -- the station's major holiday fundraising campaign for Salvation Army families.
