Raleigh, N.C. — Some great news for people who are fans of interesting combinations!
We finally have an opening date for one of the most anticipated restaurants in the area - Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar. The Charlotte-based restaurant will be opening up its first Raleigh location on April 15 inside of North Hills' Captrust Tower. As the name implies, Cowfish serves sushi, burgers and even spiked milkshakes!
We found out about this one from Durham Magazine: Rose's Meat Market and Sweet Shop is hoping to open in June at 121 N. Gregson St. in Durham. Rose's is a butcher and pastry shop. They plan to have soups and stocks, sandwiches, house-made sausages and custom cuts of meat from whole carcasses. The pastry side will have fruit driven desserts and fresh baked bread. They have purchased the space and are running a Kickstarter campaign to help pay for the shop's refrigeration.
As we reported last week, Characters Quarters in Garner is no more. Spike TV's "Bar Rescue" gave it a makeover. It re-launched on Friday as MoonRunners Saloon. The menu looks great with cocktails like the Moon Runner (moonshine, lemon sour, root beer and vanilla tinture) and food including steaks, wings, catfish and mac and cheese.
Bar Rescue is taking on nightclub Cashmere in Glenwood South in Raleigh this week. No word on when that unveiling is happening.
On Friday, Videri Chocolate Factory will hold a grand opening for its new coffee counter. The downtown Raleigh sweet spot (located in the Raleigh Depot, across from The Pit) is serving Stumptown Coffee. They will have espresso drinks and hot chocolate from 7-10 p.m. And be sure to check out some of the free Trophy Brewing beer on hand and some local art on display from Sean Marlin.
Deep River Brewing in Clayton is holding its grand opening party on Saturday. This is Johnston County's first brewery. Tickets are $50 and include entry to the party and a commemorative glass, exclusive 22 oz. bottle of Johnston County's first legal batch of beer, samples of all beers on draft, cask conditioned ale made just for the party, first dibs on additional bottles of their first batch, tours of the facility, food, live music and good times. Tickets are limited.
The Little Caesars Pizza, located in the spot where Solomon's used to be along Capital Boulevard in north Raleigh, will open on Wednesday.
Taste, which is located off of Dixie Trail in Raleigh, is under new ownership. Owner Justin Riek says the restaurant and bar has revamped the menu to focus on fresh ingredients. They are serving morsels slightly larger than tapas. The beer menu has changed as well. They are offering more craft beer, including drafts, and broadened the wine selection. They are also planning to open the patio soon!
