Severe thunderstorms strike central NC again, storms possible Friday
Spotty storms moved through central North Carolina Thursday afternoon, prompting severe thunderstorm warnings for areas south of Raleigh.

Lee, Moore, Harnett and Chatham counties were issued severe thunderstorm warnings. Showers were also reported around Hillsborough.
The National Weather Service was monitoring a storm cell in Person County that could produce hail and wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
“(There is) a lot less activity than what we saw this time yesterday,” WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel said.
Occasional storms are expected overnight and into Friday, when temperatures will reach the upper 80s with more possible showers.
Thursday’s calmer weather was a stark contrast from Wednesday, when severe and widespread storms caused downed trees and power lines across the region. Some residents experienced near misses as trees fell on homes and vehicles, including one that fell on a woman’s vehicle while she was driving in Durham. She was not injured.
Tens of thousands of Duke Energy customers in Durham and Wake counties were without power Wednesday evening due to the storms.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 80s through the weekend under mostly cloudy skies.
