Join 100+ food entrepreneurs for the May edition of Triangle Food Makers, hosted again by our friends at the American Underground @ Main in Durham, NC.     First, the evening kicks off with “Local Bites, where you can sample 10-15 locally made products and meet the local food makers from food companies from around the Triangle. Next, we move into our program - our topic is crowdfunding, with a particular focus on the new NC PACES act, an exciting new change to the crowfunding laws that went into effect on April 1. 2017.  We will hear from Benji Jones, a partner at Ward and Smith. P.A., who has been involved in the drafting of the new state laws.  She will share some new ways that you can raise up to $2 million in either debt, equity, or even royalty financing directly from ANYONE living in NC, regardless of their wealth or income level.   We'll also hear about other forms of crowdfunding to consider for your business such as Barnraiser, Kiva.org, or the new Slow Money SOIL club.  You'll hear straight from other food makers about their experience with these crowdfunding options.   Tentative Agenda: 5:00 - 6:00pm: Local Bites | Samples of locally made products  6:00 - 6:15pm: Welcome and introductions  6:15 - 7:30pm: Cash from the Crowd 7:30 - 7:50pm: Audience Q&A 7:50 - 8:00pm: Wrap up, and to time to nibble & mingle If you are a local food maker interested in offering samples during the "Local Bites" hour, please contact Andia Xouris for more information.
