Henderson, N.C. — What a difference a week makes. Last week, Kerr Lake's level was lower than normal, prompting boating ramps to close and officials to warn about water conservation.
On Friday, the Army Corps of Engineers announced that the nearly 5 inches of rain over the past few days has led to about a 6-foot rise in the lake's water level.
So much rain has fallen, they said, that some of the water had to be released so the levels didn't get too high.
The target water level for Kerr Lake this time of year is 295.5 cubic feet. As of Friday, it was 298.5.
