Edible Art has been spoiling Raleigh locals with its artisan cakes and baked goods for thirty years, making this the Triangle's oldest bakery around. Though many bake shops have popped up since Edible's 1982 opening, none have surpassed the quality and taste of these cakes and delectable treats that were first created in the kitchen of NC native Judy Lassiter back in the 1950's.
Edible Art proudly describes itself in three distinct words: sweet, southern and scratch-made. That means no artificial ingredients, mixes or frozen layers. Simplicity is key, and that's exactly how Edible views its ingredient base. On any given day, Edible offers a scrumptious variety of cupcakes with flavors like Southern Lemon Ice Box, Chocolate Peanut Butter Surprise and Grandma Mildred's Pig Pickin'; cheesecakes like Key Lime and Banana Pudding; Strawberry Shortcake Rolls; and individual cake slices (Edible's specialty). Nothing partners better with a sweet treat than good ol' caffeine, and that's why Edible is also a full-service cafe to provide that cup of coffee or espresso to wash down the goodness.
As cakes are this bakery's main attraction, Edible Art knows no limits when it comes to flavor combination. With the freedom to choose your own flavors, frostings and fillings, any and every cake that comes out of Edible's ovens is guaranteed to be unique in appearance and taste.
Here's a peek at some of the cake combinations Edible has to offer:
• Coconut Cake filled with Chocolate Mousse and frosted with Chocolate Ganache
• Almond Cake filled with Lemon Cream and frosted with Vanilla Buttercream
• Red Velvet Cake filled with Cream Cheese and frosted with Vanilla Buttercream
• Spice Cake filled with Vanilla Rum and frosted with Chocolate Buttercream
