Raleigh chef is finalist for James Beard Award

Ashley Christensen, owner of Poole's and several other restaurants in downtown Raleigh, is a finalist for the best chef in the southeast award.

RALEIGH, N.C.Ashley Christensen, owner of Poole's in downtown Raleigh, has been named a finalist for the James Beard Award for best chef in the southeast. 
Christensen also owns Beasley's Chicken and Honey, Chuck's, and Fox Liquor Bar.
The annual James Beard Foundation Awards are often referred to as "The Oscars of Food," and the Triangle has a legacy of taking home honors.

Christensen is the only North Carolinian named as a finalist for a James Beard Award. 

The Triangle and the entire state was well-represented when the semi-finalists were announced last month. 

The James Beard Foundation Awards will be handed out during a gala at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center on May 6.
