Weekend best bets: Brewgaloo, Outlaw Fest and a sweet 5K

RALEIGH, N.C. — Lots of outdoor fun planned this weekend, including a few concerts!

Food and Recreation

Brewgaloo (Downtown Raleigh) - This two-day craft beer festival is being held this weekend in downtown Raleigh. On Friday night there will be a block party sampler event from 6 to 10 p.m. featuring limited releases, barrel aged and sour beers. Only a limited amount of tickets are being sold for Friday night and you must be 21 years or older to attend. Designated Driver's do not need to purchase tickets. On Saturday, the festival will be on Fayetteville Street from 2 to 10 p.m. with 70 breweries, 45 food trucks and two stages of music. Tickets are not required for Saturday, as entry is free. The number of breweries and food trucks were reduced this year due to COVID-19. This allows more space for guests and vendors. Side streets will also be open to allow more distancing between patrons. Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations will be placed throughout the event. Anyone who does not feel well and has purchased a ticket can contact Shop Local Raleigh for a refund.
8th Annual Sola Hot Mini 5K (Sola Coffee Cafe, 7705 Lead Mine Rd, Raleigh) - Sola Coffee Cafe, a family-owned neighborhood cafe in north Raleigh, is hosting its 8th annual Sola Hot Mini 5K on Saturday. This run will be held in-person and virtually starting at 8:30 a.m. This year's participants will be raising funds alongside Team Drea to support the Duke ALS Clinic in the fight to defeat ALS.
Canes 5K (PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Rd., Raleigh) - The 8th annual Canes 5k is Sunday at PNC Arena. All proceeds benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation. The event includes a 5k race around PNC Arena and surrounding areas, 100- and 200-yard Caniac Kids Dashes, inflatables and appearances by Stormy. Hurricanes players, staff and alumni are also scheduled to be in attendance.
Okotoberfest - 7 Year Anniversary Party (The Glass Jug, 5410 Highway 55, Durham) - The Glass Jug celebrates its seventh anniversary with an Oktoberfest event on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be live music and a special food menu.
Oktoberfest at Motorco (Motorco Music Hall, 723 Rigsbee Ave., Durham) - Motorco will host its 11th annual Oktoberfest celebration on Sept. 18. There will be music from Little German Band, dancers and German food and beer. The fun happens from 1 to 10 p.m.
Oktoberfest Party (Nickelpoint Brewing Company, 506 Pershing Road, Raleigh) - Nickelpoint Brewing will host its Oktoberfest event on Sunday with live music from the Mountain Top Polka Band. There will be games, prizes and, of course, beer! ​
East Meets West Festival (Morrisville, 301 Dominion Drive, Morrisville) - This event celebrates Morrisville with food, culture and music from around the world. This year the festival is being held from Sept. 1 to Oct. 10. There will be events throughout the month.
Capital City Bikefest 2021 (Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson, 1126 South Saunders Street, Raleigh) - This event includes three day so live music, stunt shows, food trucks, vendors, games and more.
The Great Drunk History Walking Tour (Paddy O'Beers, 121 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh) - With an expert guide, the tour winds it way through Downtown Raleigh featuring tall tales and stops at some of the city's most famous landmarks. The tour is Saturday at 3 p.m.

Music and Comedy

Outlaw Music Festival (Coastal Credit Union Music Park (formerly Walnut Creek Amphitheatre), 3801 Rock Quarry Rd., Raleigh) - See Willie Nelson, Sturgill Simpson, Gov't Mule, Margo Price and more at this music festival on Saturday at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh. All attendees must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of the event. Unvaccinated fans under 12 years of age will be required to take a COVID-19 diagnostic test within 72-hours before the event and will provide proof of negative result prior to entering the venue.
Dierks Bentley - Beers On Me Tour 2021 (Coastal Credit Union Music Park (formerly Walnut Creek Amphitheatre), 3801 Rock Quarry Rd., Raleigh) - See this country star Friday night at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh. Masks are recommended but not required at this show.
The Ultimate Queen Celebration (Durham Performing Arts Center, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - Since 2017, Marc Martel has fronted The Ultimate Queen Celebration, an explosive tribute featuring some of the band's most iconic rock anthems. Martel also sounds a lot like the late Freddie Mercury! See this show on Saturday night at Durham Performing Arts Center. Note: All ticketholders must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the show. Also, guests will be required to wear masks.
Dashboard Confessional - Unplugged Tour (The Ritz, 2820 Industrial Drive, Raleigh) - See the band at The Ritz on Friday night. Face coverings are strongly recommended for fans who are not fully vaccinated, unless actively eating or drinking, per CDC guidelines.
Arnez J Headlines the Improv (Raleigh Improv, 1224 Parkside Main Street, Cary) - Arnez hosted BET's longest running comedy series "Comic View" for two seasons. His new comedy special, "Racially Motivated," is on Netflix now. See him on stage at Raleigh Improv Thursday through Sunday.
Katt Williams (PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Rd., Raleigh) - Comedy titan and Emmy Award-winning actor Katt Williams brings his "World War III" tour to PNC Arena Friday night. Masks are required for all guests.

Family Fun and Shopping

BugFest: Plan Bee! (Prairie Ridge, 1671 Gold Star Dr, Raleigh) - BugFest is back with two in-person events on Saturday at Prairie Ridge Ecostation. This year's festival celebrates the bee. There will be a pollination celebration on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon and then a Moth Party from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Fairgrounds Southern Ideal Home Show (North Carolina State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh) - If you are in the market to do any home improvement projects, you might want to head to the N.C. State Fairgrounds this weekend for this show featuring industry experts, presentations and vendors. The event runs Friday through Sunday and tickets are still available. Per Wake County regulations, all unvaccinated people are required to wear masks while inside the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.
Pop-Up Raleigh Art and Vintage Market (Trophy Brewing and Taproom (Maywood), 656 Maywood Avenue, Raleigh) - Pop-Up Raleigh is downtown Raleigh's original monthly artisan market. It takes place Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at Trophy Brewing and Taproom on Maywood Avenue.
