On September 24, Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance presents a night full of eclectic soulful jams from friends of the grassroots festival family. As a part of our 'Shakori Presents' series, the festival highlights artists from across North Carolina that showcase the same diverse artistic output that our festival acts display. Whether they be Shakori Hills alumni, or up-and-coming acts from the region, our goal is to shine a light upon the immensely talented artists within the North Carolina community.

Join us on Sept. 24 at The Pinhook for a night full of fantastic music and a chance to win a pair of single-day passes for the upcoming Fall Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music & Dance. The show kicks off at 8:00 p.m. and tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door.

Based out of Raleigh-Durham, NC, Carolina Music Award Nominee – N’KOGNiiTO has spent the last two and half years crafting their own original sound and honing their skill set. With heavy influences from a variety of genres, the group does not like generic. Their music blurs the lines between R&B, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Blues and more. It’s only a matter of time before N’KOGNiiTO becomes a well-recognized name.

This ensemble of seven highly skilled music-magicians have a musical style rooted in the traditional music of West Africa ---yet also include influences from around the world, such as Brazil, Dominican Republic, and the United States. Pushed by the power of the Djembe Orchestra this ensemble has booming onstage energy, balanced with the melodic sounds of the kora, acustic guitar and balaphone.

This dynamic band blends the best of traditional African music with everything that’s funky about NOW. They take the stage with all the purpose and power of Burning Spear and all the good-time-say-what of a New Orleans Brass Band.

Sages is the soul-fusion project of multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Cameron Cook. Self-described as jazz-afflicted soul-driven groove sounds, their influences range from Stevie Wonder and D'Angelo to Ben Folds and Todd Rundgren, landing somewhere in between for an amalgamous sound all their own. with N'Kogniito, Africa Unplugged, Ages of Sages
