This year's edition of Raleigh Deathfest sees Richmond, VA's Battlemaster reigning over all with their swords and sorcery-themed death thrash. We couldn't be happier to have these maniacs headlining this year.
Bringing their insanely heavy, Lovecraft-inspired death metal destruction back this year are Raleigh's Eldritch Horror, paired with the more melodic, Gothenburg-influenced but still brutal musical atheletes of Raleigh's Necrocosm.
Making their RDF debut this year are Wilmington's Paagtheaan, who certainly lean towards the "black" end of the extreme metal spectrum, but are nonetheless powerful and captivating in their approach to writing sick, blackened death metal.
Also new to this year's line up, but no stranger to local metal fans, are Suppressive Fire, hot on the heels of the release of their Nature of War release on Lost Apparitions Records. They are ready to slay the RDF crowd with their take on Teutonic thrash metal.
Deathcrown, also hailing from the metal hotbed of Richmond, VA, are decidedly unrelenting and punishing old-school death metal with modern sensibilites that keep them sounding fresh. They've ventured to Raleigh a few times and have created their own buzz based on some pretty powerful performances. Definitely a "can't miss" part of this bill. Make sure to get a beer before they go on.
Also returning from last year's line up are Raleigh death/doom/black/thrash metal warriors Datura. This show is extra special for them being the release show for their Rusty Knuckles Records' debut release The Harrowing. If you haven't experienced Datura's commanding presence in person, this would be an excellent opportunity to do so.
Another RDF 2016 alumni are Outliar, whose high-energy thrash is sure to get your pulse up, your thirst for abrasive, aggressive metal whet, and help set the tone for the day.
The young guns of the day are going to be Raleigh's Noctomb, bringing their hazy, insanely heavy version of metal to the bill. These guys are always extremely tight and will crush your skull with the weight of their riffage.
Eastern NC is being represented in the form of BloodForce, a quartet of sheer brutality and precision with general themes of war and death that are a perfect starting point for this year's installment of Raleigh Deathfest.
Our sponsors were a huge part of last year's Deathfest, and you might see some familiar names on this year's list of vendors and sponsors. We are really thankful to have a lot of new sponsors this year that want to be a part of the show. Be sure to go and like their pages and show them some support!
