Man changes mind after surrender to police

Brandon Pulley went to Wake County Detention Center Tuesday night to turn himself in for a probation violation. While inside, he changed his mind, running out of the Hammond Road building through the front upstairs door.

While inside, he changed his mind, running out of the Hammond Road building through the front upstairs door, authorities said.

Raleigh police, Wake County sheriff's deputies and state troopers searched for Pulley, who was caught after police dogs tracked him down.

    Not really. Escape from custody for a misdemeanor charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor. Escape from custody for a felony is a Class H felony with a presumptive range of 4 to 24 months. You won't get 10 years for hardly anything unless it is at least a class D felony. Also, the story never says if he was actually in custody or if he left before being taken into custody.

    A simple probation violation, which he probably would have been released from, is now a jail break charge which carries a mandatory 10 year sentence. and some people say the kids today are smart, this one certainly is the exception

    Sounds like good teamwork. Would you prefer they send just 1 guy out to look for a suspect by himself to make it more fair?
