Raleigh, N.C. — Six months ago, when a fire destroyed Hibernian Pub on Glenwood South in Raleigh, owner Niall Hanley vowed to rebuild "bigger and better than ever." On Monday, they began that effort.
"It feels incredible to start making this kind of progress," Hanley said in a press release.
The location closed on Dec. 26 after what appeared to be a grease fire ripped through it.
The Glenwood South location will include the same "Irish charm as the original" but will have a new two-story layout and rooftop bar. It is expected to be complete by Christmas.
"Once again, I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every neighbor, friend and patron who has rallied around us in the past year,” Hanley said. “You’re the reason I love to call this city home. We can’t wait to be back and throw the biggest party Glenwood South has ever seen.”
Hibernian has two other locations - one in Cary and another in north Raleigh.
