RALEIGH, N.C. — Big Boi, half of the powerhouse duo Outkast, will be one of the headlining acts playing City Plaza during Hopscotch Music Festival this year, organizers announced Wednesday.

Big Boi will perform on Friday, Sept. 6, with opening acts Future Islands and Gross Ghost.

On Saturday, Sept. 7 Spiritualized will close the night with their "shrieking psychedelic gospel," organizers said. They will be joined by the Breeders, who were announced as performers last week. The alternative rock band will commemorate the 20th anniversary of their hit album, Last Splash, by playing it in its entirety. The night's opening act will be the Lollipops.

Nearly 175 bands will play 15 venues throughout downtown Raleigh during Hopscotch on Sept. 5-7. The bands span a variety of genres, including hip hop, indie rock, electronic, heavy metal and old-time music.

Some of the other artists on tap for this year's Hopsctoch include Local Natives, John Cale, Sleep, Earl Sweatshirt, Low, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Action Bronson, Matthew Dear, Oblivians, The Rosebuds playing Sade’s Love Deluxe, Califone, ADULT., Merzbow, Chatham County Line, Mikal Cronin, Pig Destroyer, Ryan Hemsworth, Wolf Eyes, Purling Hiss and Mount Moriah playing their entire catalog.

Wristbands for Hopscotch went on sale Feb. 1. VIP wristbands ($180) and 3-day wristbands ($125) are still available on the Hopscotch website. These wristbands get you entry into all the club and City Plaza shows.

In June, one day passes (ranging from $65-$85) will go on sale as well as single tickets to the City Plaza shows. The City Plaza shows will be $40 each.
