Beer fests and comedy lead our best bets for the weekend

Two beer festivals and several comedy shows help make this a weekend to celebrate in the Triangle.

RALEIGH, N.C. — This is a fun weekend in the Triangle with two events celebrating local beer and three nationally known comics hitting the stage. 

Beer 

Southern Season's Beer Extravaganza - Head to the Chapel Hill kitchen store from 2-5 p.m. Saturday to enjoy samples from national and local craft breweries and cideries. There will also be food vendors, home brew accessory vendors and live music. Admission is $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Price includes a souvenir glass and all the samples of food and drink!
Brew Durham 5 Homebrew Festival - Sample 40 home brewed beers from area brewers and dine on small bites from local restaurants during this event Saturday at The Scrap Exchange in Durham. There are two sessions: 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Tastings tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Designated driver tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. 

Comedy

Comedian Dave Chappelle plays the DPAC all weekend. The first two shows sold out so they had to add a third one and that one sold out. Keep your eyes peeled just in case more tickets become available.
Christopher Titus brings his new show to the Carolina Theatre of Durham Friday night. Tickets start at $27. 
America's favorite comic ventriloquist Jeff Dunham brings his cast of characters to the PNC Arena Sunday during his "Disorderly Conduct" tour. You may have seen him during one of his Comedy Central specials. His sidekicks include Walter the Grumpy Retiree, Achmed the Dead Terrorist and the manic purple monster Peanut. Tickets are $43.50.

Honoring veterans

On Saturday, head to Fayetteville for the annual Veterans Day Parade. It starts at 10 a.m. and will also be broadcast live on WRAL-TV. Following the parade there will be a ceremony at the N.C. Veterans Park. On Sunday, the Army Ground Forces Band of the U.S. Army Forces Command will present a "Salute to Veterans: Celebrating America’s Heroes." This free concert starts at 3 p.m. at the J.W. Seabrook Auditorium on the campus of Fayetteville State University. The show will feature music from the Revolutionary War to the present day.

American Meltdown's De-Lish - muenster cheese served on Guglhupf's pumpkin seed Cheddar bread.

Handmade Market at Cobblestone Hall - This semiannual shopping event features a selection of the best and brightest artists, designers and crafters from North Carolina and beyond. This indoor craft market will feature fine art, apparel, jewelry, accessories, housewares and more. Admission is free. 
Wake Forest Food Truck Rodeo - Wake Forest will host its food truck rodeo Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Renaissance Center. There will be some of your favorite trucks, live music, kids' activities, vendors and craft beer. Admission is free. 
Much Ado About Cheese - Free samples from some of the best cheese in the area highlight this celebration of fromage. There will be wine and beer for purchase and the American Meltdown food truck will be selling their tasty grilled cheese sandwiches! Porchetta food truck will also be on hand. Everything happens at The Cotton Room in Durham from 1-4 p.m. Sunday.
