Inspired by the madness of current politics, Killian Manning's latest dance-theater piece, Uncle Sam Wants YOU!, promises an evening of barnstorming patriotism, spine-tingling treason, and plenty of spangly stars in between. Partisans and protestors, soldiers and spies, heroes and huddled masses are all assembled, promising an evening of sass, satire and sedition!  Choreographer’s Quotation I continue to be amazed at the generosity of my performers.  The work would not be possible without their unflinching desire to walk and talk and fling and turn and fall and catch and sing and dance -- all at the whim of a wild woman who often begins rehearsals with, "I had this dream. . . What do you think??"  Once again, it’s off we go…and I hope the audiences will enjoy riding along. Work in larger “arc” as artist Uncle Sam Wants YOU! continues Manning’s eclectic and inventive style of examining pedestrian experiences that expose our most intimate lives.  In One by One by Once Upon a Time she explored the dream of “happily ever after” through relationships, both famous and mundane.  In The Year of Empty Wine Bottles and 1956 Degrees of Separation Manning used her own family as an entrée into the intricate narratives of our domestic lives. Most recently, Now Boarding, studied the rituals of airport life as a microcosm of the world.  Now with Uncle Sam Wants You, Manning turns her eye toward the political to interrogate the notion of being patriotic in turbulent times. Combining movement, music, text and props, her focus on the debates within the larger body politic is by turns provocative and poignant, energetic and elegiac, passionate and playful. Performers and Collaborators Featuring: Sarah Adams Bean, George Barrett, Christina Conley, J Evarts, Claire Fefer, Jonathan Leinbach, Beyla Munach Nik Stasuli, Becky Straub, Geraud Stanton, Stephen James Rodriguez Velez, and Ronald West.
