A 9-year-old boy is undergoing a mental evaluation after Johnston County deputies said he brandished a box-cutter and threatened to kill a woman and five children last week.
Posted — UpdatedSMITHFIELD, N.C. — A 9-year-old boy is undergoing a mental evaluation after Johnston County deputies said he brandished a box-cutter and threatened to kill a woman and five children last week.
The incident happened in the Brogden community east of Smithfield, when a woman said she saw the boy vandalizing her mailbox. When she asked the boy to leave, he pulled out a box-cutter and threatened her and five children playing in her yard, authorities said.
The woman suffered a minor injury during the incident.
Authorities haven't decided whether to charge the boy.
