9-year-old sings epic cover of alicia keys song on ‘america’s got talent’ (video)

Posted July 25

If you thought Alicia Keys was the only one who could belt it out like, well, Alicia Keys, think again. This 9-year-old absolutely nailed her latest performance on “America’s Got Talent,” singing Keys’ “Girl On Fire.”

Seeing the petite Angelica Hale take the stage, you wouldn’t know she was a powerhouse vocalist, but as she begins to sing, it becomes quite obvious.

“You walk out and you’ve got these sneakers on, and you look like this adorable little child. Then, you open your mouth and it’s like ‘how do those pipes fit in that tiny body?’ You are unbelievable,” judge Chris Hardwick said after her performance.

And once you hear Angelica sing, you’ll feel the exact same way.

Pretty incredible, right?

What makes this little girl’s singing capabilities even more special is the fact that she’s sharing her beautiful voice for a good cause. According to a video on her personal website, Angelica was hospitalized and put on life support when she was just 4 years old. It was discovered that she needed a kidney transplant, and after months of testing, doctors discovered her mom was a perfect match.

On Sept. 13, 2013, Angelica received her kidney transplant. Now that she’s healthy, she’s using her talents to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

“I wanted to become like [popular singers], but instead of doing it for something else, I did it for raising money for the hospitals,” Angelica said in the video. “I won’t forget my experience in my hospital because that is kind of like a centerpiece in my life.”

So yeah, this girl is on fire.

If you’re feeling inspired after seeing her performance (and how could you not be!), then be sure to check her out on more “America’s Got Talent” episodes because Angelica has moved on to the live tapings.

“America’s Got Talent” airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m./7 p.m. CDT-make sure you’re watching! Little Angelica is bound to deliver another mind-blowing performance.
