9 signs he'll never stop wanting you (written by a man)

Posted July 15

Love is like planting a garden. That sounds pretty corny (no pun intended), but the simile makes sense. You can't just sit in a lounge chair and watch your plants start to grow — it takes effort. Otherwise, the ground dries out and weeds shoots up to choke your garden to death. Love is the same way — it takes purposeful and intelligent action to keep it alive. To make sure your man's love will never fizzle out, pay attention to these nine signs:

1. He sings to you

OK, so it doesn't have to be singing. Maybe he braids your hair, hides notes all over the house or paints your fingernails. The point is that he makes you feel special, even if it means getting out of his comfort zone (or his areas of expertise). The only thing he wants in return is seeing your face light up.

2. He kisses you softly

How a man kisses you should reveal a lot about how he really feels about you. Men who rush in for a full-on facial kissing attack are a dime a dozen. But you can bet that if your man purposefully kisses you softly it's because he's savoring every moment of the experience. He's attracted to you, but he's seeking much more than physical gratification. Soft, slow kisses express self-control and promote a deeper, more emotional connection than the more common and more aggressive form of kissing.

3. He still dates you

Whether you've been together for one year or 40 years, if he still takes you on dates it's because he's still interested in deepening your relationship. He's still interested in learning about you. It's corny, but his love for you is continuously flowing river, not a stagnant pool.

4. He changes without needing to be asked to change

If your man is serious about his feelings for you, he'll want to change for you. He'll want to be the man you deserve and he'll recognize that. While you may love him, he's still not good enough for you. He'll spend his life constantly refining his habits, desires and actions to become the best version of himself, for you.

5. He goes to the mall with you

Wow, if he's willing to go shopping for clothes with you, he's a keeper. A lot of men avoid clothes shopping like the plague. If he's willing to walk around every rack with you (multiple times) then stand outside the dressing room for an hour, you must be one incredible girl. He may not love shopping, but he just wants to spend time with you, so he comes along. When you're happy and excited, so is he.

6. He occasionally does your dishes

He doesn't have to do little acts of service like that. If a man has already won a woman's heart it's very easy to fall into an Adam Pontipee sort of attitude: "what do I need manners for? I already got me a wife."

A man truly loves you if he goes the extra mile to take care of what you would normally have to worry about. He's already doing his fair share of the housework but wants to lighten your load because he's completely smitten.

7. He looks at you when you're talking

It means he's actually listening to you. This is Relationships 101 stuff, so if he's not looking at you when you're talking, there's an issue. If he's really listening he's not going to be distracted by his phone, that girl jogging by or that caterpillar inching away.

The only exception to this rule is if he's driving. Keep his eyes on the road.

8. He asks you more than yes/no questions

This point goes along with listening. If he's listening while you're talking, hopefully it's going to turn into a meaningful conversation, instead of just obligatory conversation fillers.

If he asks you open-ended questions (not just basic "yes" or "no" responses) it shows a different level of interest in you. He wants to know your thoughts and feelings. He wants to know your opinions. He wants to know the real you.

9. He communicates with you

Just because you're in love doesn't mean everything is going to always be butterflies and rainbows. But even when things aren't perfect, he'll make a concerted effort to love you by working through problems. He'll have open communication so you two can figure this out. If he's honest, open and willing to calmly work through the rough patches with you, he's in it for love.
