88-year-old recovering after lightning strike

Posted August 6, 2010

— An 88-year-old New Jersey man was recovering Friday after being struck by lightning Thursday while camping at Falls Lake.

Rangers said a bolt of lightning hit a power supply line, electrifying a camper at the Holly Point campsite. The man was leaning against the camper at the time, and the lightning struck him in the back.

"There was a bad storm and a loud boom, and the next thing you know, paramedics and everything just started coming in," said William Christian, who was camping nearby.

The man, whose name wasn't released, was treated at a nearby hospital and released.

One thing is sure - he's a tough old guy! Bless his heart. Hope is has no lingering effects from the shock.

WOW! I don't know what I am more shocked about, the man getting struck by lightning or that he is an 88 yr. old camper.
