An 83-year-old man was arrested Monday on charges that he inappropriately touched an 8-year-old, authorities said Tuesday.

<b>WEST END, N.C.</b> — An 83-year-old man was arrested Monday on charges that he inappropriately touched an 8-year-old, authorities said Tuesday.

Gordon Earl Farron, of 128 Shadywood Court in West End, was charged with indecent liberties with a child, sexual battery and assault on a child under 12. He was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond.

Moore County Sheriff Lane Carter said in a statement that his office received a report on July 7 alleging the inappropriate activity occurred outside the West End area.
